York County is growing, and there's no shortage of stories to tell. From new businesses and restaurants to schools, neighborhoods, local government and the people who make our communities special, there's a lot happening here.
Yet as our county grows, the local news landscape is changing. Traditional newspapers have reduced their print presence, and larger regional news organizations have many communities competing for their attention. We believe there's room for more consistent local reporting and storytelling.
Major events bring regional and sometimes national attention to York County. But what about the stories that unfold here every day, long after the television cameras and visiting reporters have moved on? The businesses opening, the people making a difference, the decisions shaping our communities and the everyday information residents want to know?
Those stories deserve attention, too. And that's where York County Agenda intends to make a difference.
That's why we created York County Agenda, a new independent, hyperlocal publication dedicated exclusively to Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Lake Wylie, York, Clover and the communities in between.
My wife, Lisa, and I returned to York County in early 2025 to be closer to family. After more than 40 years in the news and media business, including recent years developing and operating an independent digital news publication, I'm excited to bring that experience and a fresh approach to local journalism to the community we call home.
What makes us different? Everything we publish is about York County, written by local journalists, with a local owner. No paywall. No subscription fee.
Along with original reporting, you'll find consistent reports on restaurant inspections, real estate transactions, local gas prices, high school sports scores, our anonymous Undercover Diner reviews and much more.
We'll publish new information throughout the week and deliver a free newsletter to your inbox every Thursday morning.
We're just getting started. You'll notice some sections already have several stories and features, while others are still taking shape as we expand our coverage and grow our team of local journalists.
Our goal is to give you more reasons to visit each week, with new stories, useful information and features added regularly.
We hope you'll grow with us. Have a story idea or something happening in your community? We'd love to hear about it. And if you like what we're building, please subscribe here FREE and also share York County Agenda with a friend or neighbor.
