Price at the Pump: Gas prices fall across York County; Fort Mill drops to $3.32

All five York County communities surveyed recorded lower regular gasoline prices this week, while AAA reports the Rock Hill metropolitan average fell 12 cents to $3.67 per gallon.

Gasoline prices declined across York County this week, with Fort Mill recording the lowest reported regular gasoline price at $3.32 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

Fort Mill's price represented a 33-cent decline from last week's $3.65, the largest decrease among the five York County communities surveyed.

Lake Wylie and Rock Hill followed at $3.43 per gallon, down 16 cents and 14 cents, respectively. York's lowest reported price fell 7 cents to $3.47.

Clover remained the most expensive community surveyed at $3.62 per gallon, despite a 13-cent decline from last week.

The gap between York County's highest and lowest reported prices widened to 30 cents, compared with 21 cents a week ago.

Meanwhile, AAA reported that the average price of regular gasoline across the broader Rock Hill metropolitan area fell to $3.67 per gallon, down 12 cents from a week ago and 44 cents from a month ago.

Premium gasoline averages $4.50 per gallon, midgrade $4.14 and diesel $5.78.

Despite recent declines, gasoline remains considerably more expensive than a year ago. AAA reports that regular gasoline averaged $2.70 per gallon in the Rock Hill metro area at this time last year, compared with $3.67 today — an increase of 97 cents.

South Carolina's Lowest Reported Gas Prices

Gasoline prices also declined in most of the other South Carolina markets surveyed.

Greenville posted the lowest reported price outside York County at $3.37 per gallon, down 18 cents from last week. Columbia fell 9 cents to $3.46, while Hilton Head declined 12 cents to $3.53.

North Myrtle Beach remained unchanged at $3.49. Charleston was the only market surveyed to report an increase, rising 4 cents to $3.56.
